Summer time and the living is easy

The weather is clear, hot and sultry. Wonderful. And I spent yesterday, quite happily, cleaning the cupboards out and tidying. Then making an apple pie. Dumb, eh? But I have a clean kitchen, with no sticky rings in the cupboards from the jar of golden syrup, the herbs teas are all out of their boxes (5 of them) and into a nice tin, and no sunburn!

I've been looking forward to this week at school all year. The year 11's have finished their exams and are no longer here. The year 10's are off all week experiencing a bit of adult life via work experience, and half of the lower school are on camps, sporting events or are just too hot and laid back to be anything other than pleasant. I've got loads of time to look enjoy the view (we have our own sequoia and the playing fields merge into a lovely city park) and plan what classes I do have with a bit more care and concern. Nice.

This week we will be making: pizza scones, picnic pastries, chocolate fridgecake, and tarts.

Doesn't it feel good having your kitchen in order?
