Life is Pie

I tend to categorize my food obsessions according to material, as it were, and then focus on it for a while. I had a sourdough going for a year and a half. Her name was Lucy, her sister Ethel was at school. The kids loved it. And they don't even know who Lucy and Ethel are.
For my birthday, last year, I received a really good cookbook about muffins. Now called the muffin bible. I make muffins every week and it helped with quite a few food tech projects.
And now for Pie. The kids at school always laugh (good naturedly) when I say "pie" because I exaggerate my accent. And they like that. My American twang is mild now, unless I am purposeful with it.

Before I started teaching, I didn't know much about pastry, and I had to learn quickly. Two wonderful women at work taught me as I went along. I've been learning for four years now, and have recently really wanted to perfect it. Perhaps more about it later, but lets just say, that this was the best darned cherry pie I have ever made.
And that made me happy.

Everything in your blog just looks sooooo yummy! I'm a failure in the bakery department because I was never exposed to it and because believe it or not I'm kind of scared of it. Hopefully that will change one day!

Coming to your blog just makes me want to run out and get a pastry!

By the way, I forgot to add that I am so sorry for what happened yesterday. It is something so horrible and incomprehensible to me. How can anyone do such a thing!? I hope that you and your loved ones are OK and just know that there are many of us here thinking about all of you.
